Wireless network setup wizard.
Enter a WEP key for your wireless network.
The WEP (or wired eqivilent privacy) key must meet one of the following guidelines:
- Exactly 5 or 13 characters
- Exactly 10 or 26 characters using 0 - 9 and A - F
A longer WEP key is more secure than a short one.
This is what comes up and i am unsure of how to find/get the network key.How do i find out my network key to use wireless internet on my laptop?
if the router is yours and you are configuring it, you choose a key you'd like and set it as the WEP key for your access point.
if the router isn't yours, either you ask for the WEP key to the network administrator, or you try to guess.
anyway, using WPA is better than using WEP.How do i find out my network key to use wireless internet on my laptop?
Look under or at the back of your router there's probably a label with it on
you have to login into the router and get it if you can't remember it
Well, you would have set the WEP or WPA key earlier when you configured the wireless access point. This was also the point where you configured the SSID or name of the access point.
...you DO have an access point, do you? I mean, a wireless card on the notebook is not enough to 'go wireless'.
