How do I increase the speed of my network adaptor?

I have a computer with two wired ethernet cable PCI Cards. When I look at them in network connectivity in task manager, they both say ';10mbps';. However, at school the other day the teacher plugged in his laptop to the school network and it said ';1gbps';. How do I get my network connection to be this fast? How do I increase the speed of my network adaptor?
The network cards may only be 10mbps or they may be connected to a 10mpbs router in which case they will default to that lowest speed.

If go into device manager and look up the specs on the web it should tell you the capabilities

If the network card really are only 10mpbs then you can upgrade them quite cheaply with another network card for less than 拢10

Your internal network will be as fast as the slowest routers/network cards, but as external internet connections rarely exceed 10Mbps you really will not notice any improvement on downloads from the internet or browing the internet even if you replace the necessary cards or routersHow do I increase the speed of my network adaptor?
What your thinking is you think your computer will be faster--wrong

dosent matter what speed it says as long as you can connect to the wireless network then you no worries
